PZC Series Corona Systems  

The PZC Series line of ozone generators have been designed to with the customer in mind. The following features make the use of ozone easier than ever:

Modular Design: Corona Cells and power supplies are installed in modules to facilitate easy removal for repair or replacement. In the event of a problem, simply remove the module and put in a replacement. No special skills are required and downtime due to equipment failure is virtually eliminated.

Air Cooled: Efficient heat sinking of the ozonator cabinet allows ozone to be generated efficiently with air cooling.

Environmentally Controlled: Control of the internal cabinet temperature keeps the cabinet at optimum temperatures for air cooling and allows for the units to be installed in areas with wide temperature fluctuations

Serviceability: Easy access to all components makes service and repair simple.

Low Maintenance: Systems are designed to minimize maintenance. Maintenance tasks require no special skills or training.

Custom Design: Vistek will provide custom designs and configurations for special applications and to accommodate varying site conditions.

System Sizes: 1 - 50 lb-O3/day are available. All systems are supplied with oxygen concentrators.

Three Year Warranty: In the event of a component failure, simply remove the module and connect install its replacement. Any component in the ozone generator will be replaced by Vistek if the failed part is returned to Vistek.

PZC Equipment Requirements

1.0 Compressor: Compressors can be supplied by Vistek or existing, oil-free air sources can be used. Feed air must be oil free and capable of supplying air at 90 psig (621 kPA) at the flows designated for the oxygen concentrator.

2.0 Aftercooler: Air temperature increases as it is compressed. The aftercooler reduces air temperature to an acceptable range (80 - 100 deg C max or 176 - 212 deg F max). Allowing air to enter the ozone generating cells directly from the compressor will increase the rate of ozone decomposition.

3.0 Air Dryer: Air drying is critical to achieving best performance and to prevent problems with or failure of the ozone generator. The air dryer reduces the dew point of the air entering the ozone generator to - 60 deg C (-78 deg F). Vistek will supply regenerative desiccant or refrigerated air dryers with the system depending on the application.

4.0 Air Filtration: Filtration is required at the compressor inlet, compressor outlet, and after the air dryer (for desiccant dryers).

5.0 Oxygen Concentrator: Oxygen concentrator specifications are listed below. Drawings are attached. Vistek supplies Pressure Swing Adsorption type units without compressors (except for the PZS-15) with the ozone systems. The units are microprocessor controlled and include storage tanks for high demand periods.

6.0 Ozone Generator: Ozone generators are built in modules using 1 lb-O3/day cells. Up to twelve 4 cell modules can be placed in a single cabinet. Ozone produced is 4 to 8 percent by weight.

6.1 Air Cooling: Each cell and power supply is cooled with a fan and the internal cabinet temperature is controlled with a side mounted air conditioning unit or conductive cooling. Equipment is protected from contamination since outside air is not used for cooling.

6.2 Modular: Ozone generating cells, power supplies, air conditioners, oxygen concentrator, and critical components are modular in design and can be serviced or replaced easily. In the event a power supply or ozone generating module fail, simply remove it and replace with a new one. Downtime for a failed cell will be 30 minutes or less if spares are kept on hand.

6.3 Maintenance-Serviceability: System is designed to provide easy access to all components. No special skills or training is needed for regular maintenance tasks.

6.4 Three Year Warranty: Contact Vistek if any component in the ozone generator fails within 3 years of the date of purchase. A replacement component will be shipped immediately and a call tag issued for the failed component.

7.0 Contact System: Contact systems for industrial applications will be site specific. There are two types of contact systems commonly specified for applications in the output ranges Vistek manufactures:

7.1 Venturi: These systems use a venturi to draw ozone into the water to be treated. Typically, they are used in a bypass installation (Vistek patent), but in-line injection is also used. Contact tanks, booster pumps, or in-line mixers may also be required. Venturis offer excellent ozone mass transfer rates, a turbulent mix, and low pressure or a vacuum on the ozone generator. They are particularly well suited for systems which are closed loops (water circulates in system). Due to their effectiveness, reaction tank sizes are normally smaller than systems using diffusion.

7.2 Diffusion: Diffusion is accomplished by pressurizing the ozone generator and running the mix through a porous media, usually ceramic or metal alloys. Diffusion is used in a variety of contact designs. Diffusion systems typically require more maintenance

8.0 Pool Contact Systems:: A venturi bypass is normally specified for pools (see drawing entitled Pool Installation). Typically, 15-25 percent of the return line flow is bypassed to the contact tank for treatment. A tank sized for 2-4 minutes is typically used with an ozone dose between .4 mg-O3/l and .8 mg-O3/l (see Definitions). An ORP controller controls the ozone system dosing.

9.0 Degas System: Excess ozone and air is removed from the tank via a valve. The off-gas can be connected to outside ventilation or run through a destruct chamber. Some care is required in connecting to outside ventilation, consult with Vistek prior to committing to this option.

10.0 Multiple Output Channels: Modular design allows for multiple output channels without flow splitters and complicated valving arrangements. Drawing included in this package shows a typical unit layout.
